Our love affair with our 1974 Volkswagen Bus started when we saw a copy of the ad below on Samba back in March 2005. After contacting the owner, we arrange it so that I would fly out from Boston to Denver, Colorado, take a look at it, and if I liked it, I would drive it all the way back. That's exactly what happened, but it didn't happen exactly this way. The van broke down in Columbus, Ohio, about halfway through. We left it with a well known VW mechanic and came back a month later to pick it up, but it didn't make it all the way through this time, either. It broke down again as we were visiting and old time friend in State College, Pennsylvania. From there we haul it in a truck to Cambridge, where we had a VW mechanic fix it for good.
We enjoyed our van driving it around New England until the engine broke down during an attempted trip to Acadia National Park over the Memorial Day Weekend in 2008, and it has been sitting in a driveway for the past two years awaiting a new engine.

Great 74 camper !!!
Here is my 1974 Westfalia for sale. It is in great condition. Almost everything is original. Everything works. It runs great and drives great. It does not pop out of any gears and has great acceleration. It cruises at 70 on the highway no problem but I dont recommend going over 65 just to prevent premature wear and tear. I just put in a new altenator and brand new Weber 32 ICT carbs on it. Today I gave it a tune and it is running great. The engine has roughly 10000 miles since it was rebuilt. The block is a porche block so it is better than stock. The interior is original green/blue plaid and is in great condition. All of the interior wood paneling on the cabinents and accessories are in great shape. It has the sink and ice box setup. The bus has a ton of storage for those long camping trips. The front cab carpet needs to be replaced. It has a CD player that sounds great with four speakers. I have the orininal mosquito screen and jack setup to go with it. The body is overall in great shape. It has some of the common dents in the sliding door that I see in a lot of buses (see pic). The paint is two years old and still looks great. Their is a couple of rust spots starting to form but they are just serface and no bigger than the size of a dime. The brakes were done 10,000 miles ago and work great. I have the reciept showing all new brake parts including rotors, wheel cylinders etc. This bus stops fantastic and does not pull to either side. I have to sell it because I have decided to start a non-profit organization helping families in Central America with some friends and we need some start up cash. It kills me to sell this bus but I know that the money is going towards a better cause. It will be better to call me because I work a lot and dont have regular access to my email. If you do email me, be patient and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Make me an offer and thanks for looking. Dont mind my little bro in the pics, he loves playing in the bus.
Matt
